Big Bear Ranchhouse
- SQF 1,940
The Big Bear Ranch House is located at the end of the road in a gradual canyon, surrounded by orchards and sagebrush slopes. At the Big Bear we highly value the outdoors and did our best to let the sights of the outdoors in, with floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides of the great room and a gas fireplace to take off the winter chill. Relax by a roaring fire with a book or board game and enjoy a territorial view of the Yakima Valley from the front room. You can take in vistas of the Cascades while walking the canal just out the back door. The activity options in the Yakima Valley and surrounding mountains are endless, located in the center of Washington state in the high desert country of the Cascade Mountains: hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, wine touring, fine dining or just kicking back and enjoying the quiet are all yours. All of this, while jumping on Highway 12 will take you into downtown Yakima in 20 minutes. The Big Bear Ranch House is a getaway for business or pleasure!

The address is 940 Shadbolt Road, Yakima, WA. Google maps will reliably get you there. You turn north on Eschbach Road off Highway 12, go about a mile and at the “T” make a right (east). About 1 more mile you will see on the right a small reflector and on the left a gravel road. That is Shadbolt Road and the sign is back a bit. It indicates a dead end. The Ranch House is located at the very end, exactly one mile from Old Naches Highway. The road continues past houses, “end of county road sign” through orchards. At the end are a few houses, you stay to the left and the road ends at the Big Bear Ranch House. Green composite roofing and cedar siding. Please park on the side and use that door with the keypad to enter.
The door code is currently 937 552. Please be sure to always close this door firmly so the knob latches (strong winds can blow the door open if it is unlocked and not fully closed).

I am a simple man from the Pacific Northwest, interested in facilitating experiences, innocuous rule-breaking, and wilderness adventure. Often I enjoy losing altitude on or in some form of water.
I work on a computer for my day job. I am a consultant in the renewable energy industry, working with electric utilities around the world helping them to plan investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and grid modernization. I am motivated by my love of the environment--recognizing that the energy industry is one of the most significant environmental influence levers we humans have. I adore the Pacific Northwest and particularly WA state. I split time between Bellingham, Leavenworth, and work travel. Since I have a computer anywhere I have that flexibility which I am very grateful for.
Hosting is energizing for me. Facilitating a positive experience is one of my passions. I would like to think that I am fairly easygoing, so please give me a call if you have any questions or concerns about your stay or want some recommendations!
