Urban Cabin: Private Garden and Cedar Soaking Tub
- SQF 900
Enjoy Bellingham from this newly-remodeled cozy craftsman nestled in the heart of the iconic Sunnyland neighborhood! A crazy-convenient car-free location, a short walk from local produce stands, Trader Joes, downtown, multiple delicious brunch options, and many of Bellingham’s best breweries.
A Clean, Well-Lighted Place
The space has a comfortable living room and fireplace with a bar transitioning into the kitchen, high-quality bedding from cutting-edge online mattress retailers (Purple and Nest), plenty of natural light, and a private garden with veggies for guests. Many of the unique wood features in the interior were harvested locally, finished, and installed by the homeowner--such as the 4 inch thick live-edge doug fir bar. The rest of the furniture is salvaged tropical hardwoods from Indonesia, manufactured by hand in Java--where the owner lived for over 2 years.
New for 2018: Cherry hardwood countertops, gas range, dishwasher, 4 skylights and a relaxing cedar soaking tub!
While the location is convenient to downtown, being inside the Bungalow is like taking a trip out to the woods of the Pacific Northwest (PNW). Natural light spills into the airy living room and kitchen. In the summer, conversation flows from the living room through the kitchen out to the deck, garden, BBQ and hot tub. In the winter, the ceiling fan and fireplace keep the space toasty and cozy like an urban cabin.
Bellingham: A Cascadian Gem.
The town of Bellingham has incredible parks with biking trails and year-round crystal clear flowing water. People from all walks of life still catch salmon in the middle of town at Whatcom Falls Park each fall. Rush hour doesn't exist here. Mt Baker and the grandeur of the North Cascades hem in the town on the east, while Bellingham Bay and the allure of the San Juan islands lie a short boat ride to the west. Naturalists, foodies, extreme adventure athletes, artists and more will all find world-class activities in Bellingham.
Feel free to browse our Welcome Book for more details on the space and recommended activities in the area.
Access is obtained with an electronic keypad code.
Sunnyland is simply the best. It is close to downtown, the waterfront, Mt Baker highway, shops, breweries, and biking/waking trails.
This is a great place for those who prefer to walk and/or bike around town. Public transit is also a convenient option from Cornwall or Alabama. Rideshare/taxis to downtown are very reasonable due to the short distance.

Please do not turn the dial on the fireplace all the way to "Pilot" or "Off". Please only turn it down to "Lo" where the red mark is on the dial. If you turn it it "Off", I must re-light the pilot which is a very involved process which takes approximately an hour. Sorry to have to do this, I trust you of course, but enough folks have ignored the directions in the past that I need to make this clear upfront. Thanks for understanding!

Gas Fireplace Instructions
You can open up the bottom panel of the fireplace to turn it on. Turn it up above "Lo" and it will come on. When you leave the house, please turn it down below "Lo" but NOT all the way to "OFF". Turning it to "OFF" extinguishes the pilot which is difficult to re-light. Thanks!
Please note that yard care and hot tub care will happen on Wednesday or Thursday of each week. If that is an issue for you, please let me know by Tuesday at the latest. Thank you!
I am a simple man from the Pacific Northwest, interested in facilitating experiences, innocuous rule-breaking, and wilderness adventure. Often I enjoy losing altitude on or in some form of water.
I work on a computer for my day job. I am a consultant in the renewable energy industry, working with electric utilities around the world helping them to plan investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and grid modernization. I am motivated by my love of the environment--recognizing that the energy industry is one of the most significant environmental influence levers we humans have. I adore the Pacific Northwest and particularly WA state. I split time between Bellingham, Leavenworth, and work travel. Since I have a computer anywhere I have that flexibility which I am very grateful for.
Hosting is energizing for me. Facilitating a positive experience is one of my passions. I would like to think that I am fairly easygoing, so please give me a call if you have any questions or concerns about your stay or want some recommendations!
